Typically, the majority of horse owners opt for traditional shoeing methods. However, more and more people are realising the benefits of natural hoof-care.
‘Natural Hoof Care/ Barehoof Care’ is a new term, being used to describe the care and use of barefooted horses in all disciplines including high performance horses. Nowadays some endurance performance horses successfully complete the Australian 160km Tom Quilty Cup barefooted!
Natural Hoofcare is not just a trimming method, it is also a complete care system that allows a horse to remain barefoot through its entire life.
I grew up in an agricultural environment, on a large property in QLD. Consequently, I moved to South Australia, where my love for horses continued to grow. After attending a Equine Hoof-Care Workshop with "Wild About Hooves" Instructors Jen Clingly and Jeremy Ford and also work experience with Jenny Austin (qualified Trimmer) my intrigue for natural hoof-care and skill for the procedure inspired me to start a business based in South Australia. I am currently finishing a course for my qualifications as a fully qualified Hoofcare Practitioner.
